Omurukku

Omurukku (Omapodi) is a crispy Tamil snack made from gram flour (besan) and flavored with ajwain (omam/carom seeds). The dough is prepared by mixing gram flour with rice flour, ajwain-infused water, salt, and spices, then pressed through a sev maker and deep-fried until golden and crunchy. Omurukku is light, aromatic, and mildly spiced, making it a popular tea-time snack and an essential ingredient in South Indian mixtures. It is enjoyed as a standalone crispy treat or as part of a snack mix.
